About Our Wedding Cakes
A wedding cake should do more than simply sit on a table. It should hold the room and become part of the atmosphere of the celebration.
At Eva Cockrell Cake Design, wedding cakes are created as statement centrepieces for couples across Northamptonshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and surrounding counties. Each cake begins as a culinary project.
Flavour, structure and proportion are considered just as carefully as the visual design. From the internal support of each tier to the final decorative finish, every element is planned to ensure the cake performs beautifully throughout the celebration.
The result is a cake that is visually striking, structurally reliable and memorable for its flavour.
From the first consultation through to delivery, the process is designed to be calm, clear and reassuring.
Couples receive guidance on design, flavours and portion sizes, with clear communication at every stage. Cakes are delivered and set up professionally to ensure everything is ready for the celebration.

The Wedding Cake Design Process
Initial enquiry
Share your wedding date, venue and approximate guest numbers. If the date is available, we can begin discussing your ideas and the style of cake you are looking for.
Booking your date
Many couples secure their date once they know they would like to work together. Your wedding date is reserved with a booking deposit, even if the final design has not yet been decided.
Design development
As your wedding plans evolve, we refine the cake design together. Inspiration from your venue, flowers, colours and overall styling helps shape the final concept.
Final design confirmation
Closer to the wedding, the design and flavours are confirmed
Delivery & setup
Your wedding cake is delivered and professionally set up at the venue so everything is ready for the celebration.
Most couples book their cake shortly after securing their venue to ensure availability for their wedding date

A beautiful cake should taste just as exceptional as it looks.
All cakes are freshly baked to order using carefully selected ingredients, with many ingredients sourced in organic form wherever possible. Every sponge, cream and compote is made from scratch to ensure depth of flavour and consistency.
One of our signature flavours, Coconut Delight, was awarded at the 2016 National Cupcake Championships.

Most common food allergens are used in my kitchen including GLUTEN, MILK, EGG, NUTS, PEANUTS, SESAME, SOYA, SULPHUR DIOXIDE, FISH. While every effort is made to avoid cross-contamination, traces cannot be guaranteed.

Wedding Cake Investment
Wedding cakes are typically served in one of two portion sizes: dessert portions or finger portions.
Dessert portion
Also known as a party portion, this is the size commonly served at birthdays or celebrations and similar to a slice you might receive in a café.
Approximate size: 2 × 1 × 5 inches.
Finger portion
Often referred to as a coffee portion or wedding portion, this is approximately half the size of a dessert portion and is commonly served at weddings or afternoon teas.
Approximate size: 1 × 1 × 5 inches.
Investment guide
Every cake is designed individually, so final pricing depends on size, decoration and delivery requirements. The examples below provide a general guide.
- 2 tier cake (50 dessert portions/100 finger portions) from £450
- 3 tier cake (70 dessert portions/140 finger portions) from £610
- 5 tier cake (100 dessert portions/200 finger portions) from £895
Decorative elements such as hand-crafted sugar flowers are priced individually depending on the materials used and the time required to create them.
Seasonal considerations
During the warmer months, particularly May to September, buttercream finished wedding cakes are not recommended unless the venue is air-conditioned.
For the best results in higher temperatures, a chocolate or sugar paste finish is advised. The internal cake flavours and fillings are then not affected.
Single tier wedding cakes are available as part of a dessert table package or a macaron, cupcake or doughnut tower. Minimum charge: £290
Delivery
We personally deliver all our wedding cakes
Delivery is made predominantly throughout Northamptonshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Oxfordshire, Bedfordshire, Leicestershire, Warwickshire and London but we’ll be happy to deliver your cake further afield.
Cake Stand Hire
For customers that would like to hire a cake stand, we have a range of wedding cake stands from just £10 (3 day hire), additionally we request a fully refundable deposit £30-£90 (this varies on the type of the stand).
All cake stands must be returned to us by customer unless agreed otherwise (details would be confirmed in the invoice)

- The cake could melt or sweat leading to bleeding of the colours
- Fresh flowers could wilt.

Sustainability
Sustainability is a very important aspect of my business. I don’t use any plastic or wooden dowels, but bamboo instead. They are stronger and therefore safer for stacked cakes; bamboo also requires less energy and water to grow. This way we are also protecting the soil.
All of my packaging is either plant based such as cellulose, paper or reusable plastic.

Terms & Conditions, Payments
Cakes are priced individually depending on the amount of portions and the cake design.
Orders are secured only with a Booking fee £100.
Any late changes (within the month of your wedding) to your cake order or design may incur extra charges.
We accept no responsibility for fresh flowers supplied by a third party. Please ensure they are not poisonous or toxic to humans as they will decorate an edible product. There are new rules by the Food Standards Agency regarding fresh flowers. We will be happy to advice our customers with what flowers can be on the cake and which are prohibited.
We accept no responsibility for damage to the cake once it has been delivered.
In the event of cancellation, booking fee is non refundable.
If you need to postpone your wedding / event, I will do my best to accommodate your new date and time within the same calendar year. Any postponement after the calendar year may incur extra charge.
In the unfortunate event that you have a problem with your cake, it must be returned to Eva Cockrell Cake Design for assessment within 48 hours of collection / delivery.
